The Chalkyitsik RAWS this time of year seems reliable. Because many RAWS read too warm during the higher sun time of year, I usually don't include them, though low temps year-round are typically okay.
The Fort Yukon AWOS had a low of -38F on Oct 25th and -40F on Oct 26th with clear and calm throughout, so the the Beaver RAWS is at least plausible. Off the top of my head, yes, I believe -48F at Clearwater is the lowest NWS/FAA October temperature.
Figure 2. says it all. Another fifty years at that slope and there'll be a 45° N latitude climate at 70° N. lat. Astounding warm up.
The Chalkyitsik RAWS station also recorded -48F on Nov 28. Is it unreliable?

Thanks!
Speaking of RAWS stations, I've always wanted to ask your opinion about the minimum temperatures recorded at the Beaver (WBQ) RAWS in October, 1996.
It was -43°F on Oct 24, which would be the earliest temperature of -40 or lower in Alaska, if it were reliable.
The next day temperature dropped to -48°F, which would tie the lowest value ever recorded in October in Alaska (Clearwater 1975), if I'm not wrong.
