Thank you for the excellent summary. Yours is the only substack I know of that is providing this valuable service. I am getting more and more alarmed as I see warming in both that Arctic and Antarctic regions. Palm trees on Baffin Island in the future, perhaps.

Thank you very much. Climate monitoring generally is not viewed as a valuable activity within academia (it's not research), and government monitoring is focused on national territory, and in North America, I don't think it's unfair to say that the North is usually given only cursory attention by governments and populations that are centered and so focused much farther south. The European Arctic is better covered by governments there, and of course Pan-Arctic sea ice is closely tracked. There are broader info products that focus on the Arctic, but at best those are updated annually, e.g. Arctic Report Card, AMS State of the Climate, WMO State of the Global Climate. I'm in an unique position to be able to provide this kind of info on a regular basis because of my unusual career path plus working with a team (and for a supervisor) that understand the value and importance of this kind of work.
